The position reports directly to the manager, director or partners in charge of the litigation department.The firm has extensive engagements referred by Family Law attorneys from South Florida.The typical engagement is to support referring attorney with all accounting, taxation and valuation needs as it relates to a divorce.

Responsibilities:

The forensic accounting senior is responsible for the overall management of a number of Florida family law cases, from the Firms initial retention to the cases conclusion, at the direction of the partner in charge of each individual engagement.This is the position for those unique individuals who have mastered the concept of time management skills and client relationship building.The position will have dynamic priorities which would be expected to be found in a litigation support department.


Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities Include:

Conduct forensic engagements of clients involved in various types of litigation

Assist with engagement planning and preparation by documenting and evaluating audit objectives, and preparing and/or adapting audit programs

Develop and maintain effective working relationships with attorneys and law firms directing litigation

Establish client relationships and build knowledge of business processes for purposes of business valuation engagements

Analyze and advise on business operations including revenue and expenditure trends, financial commitments and future revenues

Perform substantive testing of transactions and evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of management controls over those transactions.

Prepare audit Work Papers that clearly support audit conclusions

Prepare written reports summarizing forensic accounting investigations

Assist in presenting forensic investigation results to litigation team

Assist with the development and implementation of a departmental infrastructure including standard tools, templates, policies and procedures

Assist in risk assessment activities and the creation of forensic investigation planning

Compile and analyze financial information to prepare financial statements including financial affidavit

Supervisedocument production and control including scanning, imaging and organization of records by litigation professional staff

Ensure financial records are maintained in compliance with accepted policies and procedures

Prepare financial management reports including alimony scenarios, Florida child support guidelines schedules of proposed equitable distribution schemes

Conduct appropriate analyses, including analysis of lifestyle, assets and liabilities, bank tracing, historical income, etc.Direct litigation professional staff as needed; delegate appropriate tasks (for instance data entry);

Communicate with counsel and client as necessary in order to constantly maintain case status and notify manager or partner in charge of issues surrounding engagements on a timely basis;

Draft internal and external correspondence to document engagement status;

At conclusion of case, ensure that client files are scanned, and that original documents are returned to client.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in accounting. Must be a CPA or CPA candidate.
  • Minimum of 5 years of public accounting experience.
  • knowledge of applicable laws, codes and regulations, income tax preparation experience is a plus
  • knowledge and experience of related computer applications (LexisNexis CaseMap)
  • Strong analytical, report writing and research skills required.
  • High energy motivated individual with excellent organizational skills and the ability to multi-task on many different projects and work with many different people.
  • Working knowledge of technical literature and ability to apply it.
  • Financial statement preparation.
  • Excellent communication skills verbal and written.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to client locations in Miami-Dade, Broward and West Palm Beach.
